CAPITAL CAMPAIGN

ECG PTSA Capital Campaign

The ECG PTSA launched the Capital Campaign during the 2022-23 school year. So far we have raised almost $200,000! However, to achieve our final goal of $400,000, we need your support.

Since our school is located on the campus of Guilford College, it was not eligible to receive funding from the 2020 or 2022 GCS bonds for renovations. Therefore, the estimated $400,000 we need for renovations of our modular buildings must be raised privately.

While much work has been done in the last two years, our classrooms are still in need of significant repairs before we can consider the project complete. Last summer we began work. The roof on one trailer was replaced, and the roof on the other trailer was repaired. The siding was replaced on both trailers as well as the ramps leading to both buildings. Unfortunately, once the builders started taking apart the ramps and taking off the old siding, extensive damage was discovered that was not part of our budget. Much of the interior framing of the trailers had rotted and required replacement, as well as the entirety of the ramps.

We prioritized repairs into three phases: Phase 1 is complete, with roofs replaced to prevent future water damage, siding and exterior framing replaced because of previous water damage, and ramps completely redone due to extensive rot. Once the exteriors of the buildings were sealed and secure from water intrusion, we began phase 2 interior renovations over the summer. These included bringing restrooms up to code, electrical upgrades in the classrooms, adding water filling stations, and upgrading insufficient lighting to modern energy efficient LED fixtures.

In order to complete Phase 3 we need to raise more funds. The remainder of Phase 3 includes replacing worn out carpeting and vinyl flooring throughout the trailers, refinishing ceilings, repairing walls, and painting the interior of both trailers. If funding allows, we plan to replace much of the existing furniture and shelving as well. To do that, we need support from our ECG community. We are reaching out to alumni and community foundations, as well as the amazing parents and families in our community.
